Evergreen Park, IL – Mechanic

The Village of Evergreen Park is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to serve as a full-time Public Works Mechanic. The Mechanic performs skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of automotive, construction, and other Village fleet and equipment. The position requires the ability to diagnose issues, analyze malfunctions, determine methods of repair and strategically inspect, repair, rebuild, and maintain a variety of Village equipment including, but not limited to: cars, pickup trucks, tractors, dump trucks, bucket trucks, backhoes, skid steer loaders, snow plows, generators, saws, pumps, and other heavy construction equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:
-Two (2) years of previous experience and education in gasoline and diesel engine maintenance and repair.
-Certified ASE Mechanic or able to achieve certification within twenty-four (24 months),
-Possess or obtain valid Illinois CDL Class B license.

Work Schedule:
The weekly work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7a.m. – 3:00p.m. The schedule may be altered or extended in the event of an emergency, personnel shortage or workload. Work may be required on some Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time position with an excellent benefit package, including health and life insurance, IMRF pension, vacation time, personal days, paid holidays and sick time. The hourly pay rate for this position is $44.82. The conditional offer for the position will be subject to a successful background investigation, physical exam and drug screen.
