Gurnee, IL – Senior Planner

The Village of Gurnee seeks an experienced Planner ready to take their career to the next level as the Village’s Senior Planner.

The selected candidate will be responsible for professional planning and project management work related to land use and municipal development. The candidate will have a variety of routine and complex assignments pertaining to the implementation of current and long range planning programs. This position reviews development and redevelopment proposals including subdivision, site plan, variance requests, plat, and other development documents. The selected candidate will assist the Planning Administrator and Community Development Director and in the interpretation and enforcement of applicable Village codes, development standards, design guidelines, and the comprehensive plan.

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Urban Planning or a related field. Experience in urban planning is required. Must be familiar with GIS software used in planning and development work.

The salary range for this position is $101,127-$122,920, hiring salary range is based on qualifications and experience.

The Village’s benefit package includes health, dental, and vision benefits, a bi-weekly employer contribution towards a retirement health savings account on the employees’ behalf and employer-paid life insurance. This position also includes paid vacation, sick and personal time as well as participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement (IMRF) Fund Pension/Retirement Plan. The Senior Planner position is an exempt, non-union position.

Work schedule is 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some flexibility to schedule if night meetings are required or requested on a bi-monthly basis.
