Village of Itasca

The Village of Itasca is seeking an experienced Community Service/Code Enforcement Officer. This position plays a unique role by supporting both the Police and Community Development Departments. The CS/CE Officer represents the Village when communicating with residents and business owners and is expected to always exhibit courteous and professional behavior and comply with all departmental policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

General Responsibilities:

  • Hear and respond to calls for service
  • Respond to residence and auto lockouts
  • Provide motorist assists
  • Conduct extra watch patrols
  • Perform vehicular and pedestrian traffic control
  • Provide courier duties to neighboring departments and the circuit court of DuPage County
  • Meet with business owners and residents to investigate property maintenance ordinance violations and issue citations as appropriate

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Possess knowledge of and aptitude to learn computer applications
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and work independently
  • Ability to apply laws, rules, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to maintain confidential information, possess a high level of integrity and adopt a professional work ethic
  • Ability to expand knowledge through independent on-the-job learning and continuing education

This position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent and knowledge of municipal government. A valid state driver’s license is required. The successful candidate must pass a background check and drug screen.

This is a 40-hour position with full benefits and is eligible for IMRF pension participation.

The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $54,000 – $57,900.
