Village of Libertyville
The Village of Libertyville is seeking a Community Development Summer Intern to assist in fulfilling a variety of Community Development functions. The intern will be expected to work with the Community Development Department co-workers to accomplish various planning and zoning assignments and activities and perform other duties as required. The primary intent of the position is to provide learning and professional development opportunities to an individual interested in pursuing a career in the planning and community development field.
ANTICIPATED 2026 PROJECTS
Working as a Community Development Department Summer Intern is about being a valued member of the team. There will be a variety of tasks to work on over the summer, depending on time available, interest, and priority projects, which may include:
• Records Retention and Storage
• Administrative Assistance
• Review and prioritize implementation strategies of the Comprehensive Plan
• Update Variation and Special Use Permit data into GIS program
• Assist in the review of Zoning applications
• Enhance the Economic Development program
• General Research and problem solving
• Occasional field work
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must be enrolled in a college/university and in the process of obtaining a graduate, undergraduate, or associate’s degree in urban planning, architecture, public administration, economic development, geography, GIS or a closely related field. Ability to work independently and work effectively in a team environment is required. A valid driver’s license is required.
Seasonal Position for summer (May-August). Start/end dates flexible
Up to 40 hours per week (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; Monday through Friday)
Position is in person
Hourly Wage – $19.00 per hour
