The Village of Morton Grove is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to serve as a Crew Leader in the Water/Sewer Division of Public Works.
POSITION IN BRIEF
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor of Water/Sewer, this position oversees and participates in the planning, assignment, and supervision of work related to the maintenance and repair of the Village’s water distribution, sewer infrastructure, and water treatment facilities. The role also supervises the maintenance of Village vehicles and equipment, coordinates field staff, and ensures efficient operations. The position assumes full supervisory responsibility for the division in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor.
The responsibilities of the position include:
Essential Functions of the job:
Directs workers in constructing water main and sewer main.
Directs workers in connecting water and sewer laterals to mains.
Directs workers in fire hydrant installation, repair and maintenance.
Directs workers in valve replacement, repair and maintenance.
Inspects construction within the Village Right-of-Way of new water main, new sewer main, new water service laterals, new sewer laterals and manholes to ensure conformance with specifications.
Directs workers in cleaning sanitary mains, combination mains, storm water mains and sewer catch basins, repairing broken sewer lines, and replacing worn and damaged parts.
Directs workers in video inspection of all types of sewers main.
Assist workers in repairing breaks in water mains, water service laterals, sewer mains and sewer laterals.
Operates and maintains backhoe/loader.
Operates and maintains sewer cleaning truck.
Operates and maintains equipment such as jackhammers, pumps, air compressors, and other equipment used in repair and maintenance of water main and sewers.
Supervises, trains, and assigns personnel on safety regulations for confined space and trenching and shoring.

The Village of Morton Grove offers a competitive benefits package that includes a pension through IMRF, health, and dental insurance. The anticipated salary range for the position $75,222.00 to $97,306.00 depending on qualifications.
