Morton Grove, IL – Maintenance Worker I-Water/Sewer

The Village of Morton Grove is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time Maintenance Worker I-Water/Sewer position.

Position in Brief
The Maintenance Worker I performs manual labor of routine difficulty involving physically demanding unskilled and semi-skilled tasks and performs related work as required. This recruitment is designed to fill a Maintenance Worker I vacancy in the Water and Sewer Division. Under the direct supervision of a Crew Leader, the employee will perform the duties as assigned and associated with the Public Works Water and Sewer Division and assist other divisions within the Department of Public Works. Consequently, a history of experience with light construction, plumbing or other municipal water and sewer experience is desirable.

When not directly engaged in water and sewer operations, this employee will also be expected to operate as a laborer, assisting the other divisions. This is a laborer position that is subject to 24-hour callback and requires rotated on-call duties.

Essential Functions of the job

Performs heavy manual labor, completing tasks such as digging and shoveling for Water Main Repairs, Sewer Line Repairs, Catch Basin Rebuilding, Fire Hydrant Installations and Parkway Restoration.
Replaces Water Main Valves
Operating Various Equipment Such as Front-End Loaders, Backhoes, Bobcats and Dump Trucks
Sewer Maintenance – Cleaning and Televising – Storm and Sanitary Sewers
Julie Underground Utility Locating
Snow Plowing
The position requires responding to work-related emergencies 24 hours a day and the ability to obtain a Class B CDL. It assists other divisions within Public Works.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary ranges from $59,310 to $76,726.00 DOQ with excellent benefits (health, dental, IMRF).
