The Village of Mundelein seeks a professional, highly motivated individual to fill the role of Management Analyst with a focus on assessing strengths and weaknesses, conducting research, and providing recommendations to improve productivity and efficiency. The Management Analyst performs administrative and management functions to support the Assistant Village Administrator. This role is essential for the development and ongoing administration of various village programs and services. The qualified candidate will work closely in collaboration with all Village departments to analyze data and offer solutions to help the Village achieve its goals.

Point of Contact: Act as a primary contact in the Assistant Manager’s Office for visitors and community members, addressing inquiries and complaints, and assessing communication needs between staff and residents.

Project Coordination: Assist in organizing and administering special projects and initiatives directed by the Assistant Village Manager or Village Manager, including the annual budget and capital improvement program. Provide administrative support to help achieve management goals.

Analytical Studies: Conduct long- and short-range research using analytical techniques to develop and implement practices, policies, and procedures that enhance municipal service delivery and support management decision-making.

Process Improvement: Design and implement systems aimed at increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of work processes and decision-making. Prepare reports and recommendations for Village Administrator and Assistant Village Administrator for proposed solutions or courses of action regarding Village government and opportunities for program or service improvement.

Reporting and Recommendations: Prepare reports and recommendations for the Village Administrator and Assistant Village Administrator regarding potential solutions and opportunities for program improvement.

Contact and Lease Administration: Provide oversight of various contracts and lease agreements, tracking deliverables and monitoring terms.

FOIA Management: Serve as the Assistant FOIA Officer, ensuring timely and accurate management of Freedom of Information Act requests.

Survey Administration: Conduct surveys on behalf of the village and respond to requests from other agencies. Recommend and implement process improvements based on survey responses.

Village Board Support: Identify items for consideration by the Village Board and assist in preparing meeting agendas, including analyses, memos, and drafting contracts, agreements, ordinances, proclamations, and resolutions.

Ordinance Review: Review the Village of Mundelein Code of Ordinances and recommend necessary changes, collaborating with department directors to present updates to advisory bodies and the village board.

Committee and Event Support: Provide staff support to various Village committees and commissions as assigned. Collaborate with departments on village event management and planning.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in municipal government, public policy, or a related area.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and public relations skills for conveying information to a diverse audience.
  • Financial literacy and experience managing multiple projects efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
  • High level of professionalism and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Acquire and retain the knowledge of Village of Mundelein ordinances, rules, and regulations.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite of applications.

Salary and Benefits:

Starting salary range for this position is $73,391- $78,618 DOQ. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to advance a step within the salary range on an annual basis.  The Village offers a generous benefits package, including an Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension, vacation, personal, holiday, and sick time. Medical, dental, life insurance, and medical/dependent flex plans are also included.
