What Does a Maintenance Worker – Streets do?
Under general supervision of the Public Works Supervisor – Street Division, performs varied manual and semi-skilled labor involving maintenance and/or repairs of Village streets, alleys and parkways; maintenance of signs and uses a variety of hand tools and operates a truck and other equipment in the accomplishment of work assignments.

Are You Qualified?
- Requires possession of a valid Illinois CDL Class “B” vehicle operator’s license with air brake and tanker endorsement.
- Requires elementary knowledge of the vehicles and equipment utilized in street maintenance and repair operations.
- Requires elementary knowledge of the methods, procedures, tools and materials used in street maintenance and repair.
- Requires elementary knowledge of the hazards connected with street activities and correlative safety measures and precautions.
- Requires ability to operate or learn the operation of the standard vehicles and equipment used in street maintenance and repair programs.
- Requires ability to skillfully use related hand tools.
- Requires ability to operate small to medium equipment such as bobcat, small tractors, fork lift, etc.
- Requires ability to perform arduous manual labor in the maintenance and repair of streets and water/sewer systems.
- Requires ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to accept rotating standby assignments.
- Requires ability and willingness to respond to emergency calls on a 24 hour, 7 day basis and within a 30 minute time period.
- Requires ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with Village personnel and the general public.
- Requires ability to perform job in a safe manner with concern and care for the safety of self and fellow employees.
- Reliable attendance is essential for success.
What Will I Get Paid?
This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position. Starting wage range is $25.88/hr – $33.97/hr (DOQ).
