Village of Wilmette

The Village of Wilmette is seeking a self-motivated individual with positive work ethics to fill the Finance Internship position in the Finance Department. This position will work 25 hours per week during the summer months at Village Hall during business hours which are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Wilmette is a beautiful, historic community located 16 miles north of downtown Chicago with convenient access to the Metra train station (Union Pacific North Line) which is steps away from Village Hall, as well as the CTA Purple Line. The community has approximately 28,000 residents and a total area of 5.4 square miles.

General Responsibilities
The Finance Intern supports the department operations by assisting with customer inquiries, filing, scanning, and performing a variety of related support tasks. The intern performs various clerical duties to support the payroll, accounts receivable, or accounts payable operations of the department. The intern assists with special projects as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director.

Position Requirements
The successful candidate will be a current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Strong verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite are preferred. The Intern must have the ability to work independently and with a team.

Hourly Wage
The 2025 starting hourly rate is $19.61 and 8 hours of paid time off (PTO). After the initial 320 hours of time worked, an additional one hour of PTO will be earned for every additional 40 hours worked. Selection Process
The hiring process will entail an interview with members of the Finance and Human Resource Departments. A candidate who receives a conditional offer of employment will need to successfully complete a reference check.
