The Village of Wilmette is seeking a reliable, self-starter and team orientated individual to work as a
member of Street Division in the Engineering and Public Works Department.

General Responsibilities
The person in this position will work under the direction of an assigned supervisor and will be
responsible for a variety of maintenance duties. This semi-skilled position performs manual work using
hand tools and light to heavy equipment. The primary responsibilities in the Street division include
maintenance and repair work on the streets, alleys, parking lots, sidewalks, street lighting system, traffic
signs, parkways, parkway trees and landscape plantings. This position requires availability for
emergency response (overtime) outside of normal working hours, participation in the On-Call Specialist
Program, snow plowing operations, maintenance work on the streets, and other Public Works related
tasks as assigned.

Position Requirements
The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of
experience with operating heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, or an equivalent combination of training
and experience. Work is often performed under difficult conditions, including extreme weather and
confined spaces. The successful candidate must be able to lift to 40 pounds regularly and up to 100
pounds on an infrequent basis. Sufficient strength and agility are required to perform manual tasks for
prolonged periods. The successful candidate must possess a valid driver’s license. A Commercial
Driver’s License (CDL, Class B) with air brakes and tanker endorsements is preferred or must be able
to obtain a CDL and endorsements within six months of employment.

Compensation and Benefits
The 2022 annual salary range is $58,638 to $77,810 with a starting salary DOQ. The Village offers an

Selection Process
The successful candidate will undergo a pre-employment physical examination that includes a back
evaluation, drug and alcohol screening, audio & vision tests, refence checks, and driver’s license record
