Director of Facilities (One-Year Contract)
A mid-size organization is seeking a Director of Facilities for a one-year contract to lead facilities and grounds maintenance operations. This role is responsible for managing, planning, directing, and organizing the work of skilled and semi-skilled tradespeople and external contractors involved in the operation, maintenance, repair, modification, and construction of all organizational assets.

The Director ensures all facilities and grounds are maintained in optimal condition through regular inspections, preventive maintenance plans, and oversight of daily operations. This includes supervising snow removal operations, coordinating purchases of equipment and supplies, and planning maintenance activities such as pavement repairs, paint markings and striping, mowing, crack sealing, and trash removal. The role also includes completing driver training to maneuver to work sites independently using radio communications.

Core Duties
– Supervise snow removal operations (roadways and grounds)
– Coordinate purchases of equipment, materials, and supplies for maintenance and snow removal
– Plan, coordinate, and supervise completion of maintenance activities such as pavement repairs, paint markings and striping, mowing, crack sealing, and trash removal
– Complete driver training to maneuver to work sites independently using radio communications
– Prepare annual departmental goals and budgets, manage support contracts, and ensure compliance with all standards and expectations

Requirements
– Experience with large-scale grounds or pavement maintenance, which may include work in transportation, civil engineering, or managing construction/facilities projects
– Willingness to work nights, holidays, and weekends during snow events or emergencies
– Proven ability to prepare Excel spreadsheets and reports using Microsoft Office Suite
– Strong communication skills with the ability to present reports in group settings
– Experience supervising maintenance records, reports, and supply requisition processes
– In-depth knowledge of general maintenance practices, tools, materials, and computerized preventive maintenance systems
– Understanding of occupational hazards and safety procedures related to maintenance and construction
– Ability to plan and supervise a diverse team of skilled and semi-skilled workers
– Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, working drawings, and sketches
– Must pass a background investigation and maintain eligibility as a condition of employment
– Valid driver’s license and insurability required and must be maintained

Education/Experience
– Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field required
– At least two (2) years of experience in a leadership role involving grounds or building maintenance, including pavement, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems

Physical Requirements
– Ability to routinely lift or carry items weighing up to 15 pounds
– Ability to operate motorized equipment
– Capable of prolonged standing, squatting, kneeling, stooping, and walking
– Ability to sit for extended periods
– Frequent use of a computer and keyboard

Work Environment
– Primarily a climate-controlled office setting
– Frequent exposure to outdoor elements during inspections or maintenance oversight

Contract Details
– One-year contract with the potential for extension depending on organizational needs and performance
– Full-time, on-site position
