Joliet, IL – Will County Land Use Department – Plans Examiner (Full-Time)

Conducts reviews of plans and specifications to ensure compliance with the codes and standards currently adopted by the Will County Building Ordinance, State and Federal regulations. Duties include calculation of building permit fees, correspondence with residents, builders, architects, engineers, and occasional field inspections. Other duties as may be assigned.

The desired candidate will have experience reviewing building plans for Building Code compliance. Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or related degree from an accredited institution preferred. Additional certifications also preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, securing a Residential Plans Examiner certification from the International Code Council within one year of employment is required.
