Niles, IL (pop 29,451) is conveniently located on the northwest border of the City of Chicago and is seeking a trustworthy, progressive Family Services Director ready to lead the Department in providing wellness, mental health, recovery, and other social service resources and support to the Niles community. The Family Services Department has a strong commitment to all cultures within the community, with services provided in multiple languages. The ideal candidate will have a diverse set of skills and experience that support a commitment to build and maintain relationships, effectively implement best practices, and develop innovative programs that support the community’s social service needs. The Director will both strengthen and enhance the efficiency of the Department’s operations and supported programs while also performing case management and managing a small caseload of their own. The Director also oversees the Niles Teen Center, which seeks to develop, connect, and invest in local teens by providing a welcoming, structured, and safe environment. With such significant ties throughout the community, solid organization, management, communication, and leadership skills are essential. Innovation and collaboration are strongly valued.
  • The Village of Niles is a complex organization consisting of 12 departments which include the Village Manager’s Office, Police, Fire, Finance, Family Services, Fitness Center, Community Development, Human Resources, Senior Center, IT, Public Works, and Economic Development Departments. The Village has 238 full-time employees along with part-time and seasonal staff, is party to 5 collective bargaining units and has an approximate budget of $85 million.  The Village is governed by a 7-member elected Board of Trustees.      
  • The position directs the Village’s Family Services Department using an integrated care model and working with residents of all ages to improve their wellbeing through in-person and telehealth therapy options. Expanding community wellness efforts, the Director coordinates and hosts informational seminars for local businesses, schools, and community groups to support community wellness.
  • The Director manages 7 full-time professionals, and 14 part-time positions, and manages a budget of approximately $1.3 million.  The position reports to the Village Manager and is appointed by the Mayor and Board of Trustees.
  • Candidates must have a master’s degree in social work or related field, minimum of 5 years’ work experience as an Administrator, Clinical Director, or related position of social service/mental health/counseling agency, including supervision. LCSW is required and CADC certification preferred and highly valued.
The salary range is $126,000 – $150,000 +/- depending on qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits package.  Residency in Niles is not required.
