The City of Aurora is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Budget Analyst in the Finance Department.
Under general supervision of the Director of Financial Operations, the Budget Analyst will assist with the development of the City’s capital improvement plan and annual budget.
The duties of this position include but are not limited to: Assist with the preparation of the City’s annual operating budget through material distribution, schedule and graph preparation, review of budget submittals, and computer entry of budget data and narrative revisions; Review budget submittals for completeness and accuracy; Review budget submittals for completeness, accuracy, and consistent formats; Conduct research to support various revenue development including Equalized Assessed Valuation (EAV) projections and special projects; Conduct analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual operating revenue and departmental expense activity; Assist with the monthly budget allocation process for capital projects; Prepare budget forms and worksheets necessary for the budget process; Assist with the training of City personnel on use of budget system and formats; Assist City departments with budgetary or other questions; Other duties as assigned.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field or a master’s degree in public or business administration with at least twelve (12) college semester credit hours in finance or accounting. This position also requires a minimum of three (3) years’ full-time professional-level employment in accounting, auditing, budget preparation or closely related financial/fiscal activity. Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Governmental Financial Manager (CGFM) is preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to a physical, drug screen, and background check.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Starting hourly pay is $30.02/hr, depending on experience and qualifications.
