POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vision Zero Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the City’s Vision Zero implementation plan with various city divisions, community groups, coordinating committee, and other community stakeholders. The primary goal of the Vision Zero plan is to reduce traffic deaths to zero by 2031.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
·         Conducts research, prepare, and present reports that clearly communicate technical analyses and make the case for policy and other recommendations related to multi-modal traffic safety.

·         Leads departmental public education efforts related to Vision Zero in the promotion and dissemination of critical transportation safety messaging through neighborhood and community partnerships and other means.

·         Coordinate and build consensus between city divisions, Vision Zero Coordinating Committee, community groups, and other entities as required to implement the Vision Zero Plan.

·         Works with City of Toledo engineering and safety staff to identify priority safety locations, coordinate and conduct safety analyses, and implement safety mitigation policies and operational strategies.

·         Research, understand, and present best practices policies in multi-modal transportation planning and operations to engineering and safety staff.

·         Conduct community engagement efforts related to Vision Zero and multi-modal projects as needed

·          Maintains, monitors pertinent data related to performance targets for the Vision Zero Plan, prepares and presents reports regularly regarding Vision Zero metrics

·         Updates the Vision Zero policy as needed in coordination with department and Vision Zero Coordinating Committee stakeholders.

·         Other related duties as required for Vision Zero or other transportation/traffic projects or operations

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
·         Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Must be a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio or have a Professional Engineer license in another state. Individuals without a State of Ohio Professional Engineer license must obtain an Ohio Professional Engineer license within six (6) months of hire date. OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Planning, or technical field and six (6) years of experience planning, designing, or managing transportation engineering projects.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:

·         Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

·         Traffic/transportation engineering practices and principles.

·         Different dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.

Skill:

·         Public engagement

·         Collaborative meeting strategies

·         Interacting with media

·         Written and oral communication

·         Maintaining professionalism to accomplish overall goals

Ability to:

·         Actively listen and utilize analytical ability

·         Communicate via email, phone or in person professionally

·         Utilize problem-solving skills with conflict resolution

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee will rarely lift, carry, push, pull, drag and/or move up to 25 pounds. On rare occasions this position may require stooping, kneeling, twisting, and crouching.  This position will require the employee to rarely balance or walk on uneven surfaces. The employee is continuously indoors and rarely outdoors.  This employee may have to work extended hours and travel to multiple worksites will constantly have to travel to multiple worksites. The noise level in the work environment is usually low; however, occasional moderate background noise can occur.
