The City of Warrenville is accepting applications for the Permit and Zoning Technician position.
This is a professional position that plays a key role in assisting the general public through the City’s building permit, inspection, code enforcement, licensing, and zoning application processes; coordinates the efficient processing of submittals; helps the Community Development Department manage change in the community; and supports informed and efficient decision making by City staff, appointed, and elected officials. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Community Development Director or the Chief Code Official, this position serves as the Department’s first point of contact for questions and customer service.  This position provides exceptional service within the organization and to external customers, including promoting a positive image of the City, fostering a collaborative, respectful, and service-minded working environment, and consistently exhibiting professionalism and integrity through the community.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
The job description contains additional information about this position and is available to view in the Attached File link.  Applicants for the position of Permit and Zoning Technician must meet the following minimum requirements and qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with an associate’s degree preferred, and
  • At least one to three years’ experience in customer service or administrative support in a government organization, construction or real estate-related business, architectural or engineering consulting firm, or
  • Any combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the work required of the position.
    ICC Permit Technician Certification is a plus.
  • Possession of a valid Class D Illinois driver’s license.
  • Exceptional writing, communication, and customer service skills.

Salary and Benefits
The salary range is $53,805 – $63,894, the starting salary will be dependent upon experience.  This is a full-time, Non-Exempt position. The City of Warrenville offers a comprehensive benefits package for employees and their dependents including:

Work Schedule and Information
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Attendance at evening Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals meetings and special meetings, as needed.
