(contractual position – potential Temp-to-Hire)

GovTemps is accepting resumes from qualified candidates for an anticipated 40 hour/week position and sixteen (16) month term of Interim Village Manager at the Village of Maywood, IL. Selected candidate will be an employee of GovTemps with services contracted to the Village. The current Interim Village Manager, who has been in place for 16 months, will be leaving the position at the end of March.
It is expected that the soon-to-be former Interim Village Manager, will be a resource to the successful candidate beyond that date, if desired. If the candidate is interested, the position may lead to an offer of permanent full-time employment or evolve into a permanent outsource position through GovTemps after the 2025 municipal election. 

About the Village: Maywood (pop 23,512) is a Village in western Cook County less than an ½ hour drive from Chicago. Designated as an enterprise zone; three active tax increment financing districts; and home to a diverse mix of retail and industrial businesses and housing opportunities. The Mayor and Board of Trustees are seeking a proven visionary leader to team with them as they plan for a dynamic future. $43 million budget; approx. 200 full-time and part- time employees. 

The interim Village Manager will be appointed by the Mayor and a six (6) member Board of Trustees who are elected at large to four (4) year, staggered terms. Article 5 statutory manager form of government, the interim Village Manager will oversee the daily operations which is comprised of Fire, Police, Public Works, Building and Code, Community Development, Community Engagement, and general administration (Finance, Human Resources, IT, and Village Clerk). 

Position Qualifications: The Village is seeking a seasoned local government professional with several years’ experience in local government management. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills are required along with a proven ability to analyze issues, recommend actions and execute policy and ability to build positive relationships with the community and other governing bodies. Specific experience in budget/financial management, economic and residential development, and labor relations is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits: $80/hour. GovTemps/MGT Consulting offers a 5% employer match towards an IRA retirement plan after two months of service and provides benefits including employee health insurance.
