Pace Suburban Bus, Arlington Heights, IL. GovHR is pleased to announce the recruitment and selection process for a Transactional Attorney position. Under the direction of the General Counsel, the Transactional Attorney provides in-house transaction legal services to Pace. Drafts, negotiates, reviews, and revises contracts, agreements, and policies; conducts legal research and writes legal memoranda; handles real estate matters, including closings; and performs other duties as assigned or required.
 
We are in search of a Transactional Attorney who can demonstrate outstanding analytical abilities, along with impeccable oral and written communication skills, showcasing mastery in grammar, spelling, and punctuation. A comprehensive understanding of contract and real estate law is essential for this role. The ideal candidate will be exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and proficient in time management and task prioritization. Strong reading skills, including exceptional comprehension, are crucial. Additionally, strong interpersonal skills are a must. The successful candidate will exhibit a proven ability to identify issues, assess risks, and propose effective resolutions.
 
Position responsibilities include: 
  • Drafting agreements/contracts/policies.
  • Reviewing and modifying agreements/contracts/policies.
  • Negotiating contract terms.
  • Providing legal opinions.
  • Conducting legal research.
  • Appearing in court.
  • Attending meetings.
  • Drafting closing documents.
  • Attending real estate closings.
  • Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment but travel to Cook and its collar counties is required.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and juris doctor degree.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois.
  • 3 years previous experience practicing contract and real estate law with an excellent work history.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong research skills and the ability to use Westlaw. 
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar and the U.S. District Court, Northern District Court of Illinois is preferred. 
  • Experience defending mechanics liens cases in court is preferred.
 
Salary and Benefits 
The expected hiring range for this position is $85,000 – $100,000 dependent on qualifications. In addition to generous health, dental, and vision benefit programs, Pace also offers the following comprehensive benefits package:
