Village of La Grange

The Village of La Grange (pop. 16,321) is seeking two part-time clerks, in the Finance and Public Works departments. Clerks provide front-desk customer service to support departmental operations, and are responsible for assisting record-keeping and administrative tasks within the departments and performing detailed data entry.

Finance Account Clerk

Under the general supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Finance Account Clerk receives and processing invoices, maintains financial records, performs reconciliation of receipts for items generate Village revenues, supports utility billing functions, and assists special projects as needed.

The Finance Account Clerk’s position is 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 2:00 pm with an unpaid lunch break.

Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency. An Associate’s Degree or two years of technical or business school, or coursework in accounting is preferred. At least two years of previous accounting experience and one year of experience in cashiering or customer service is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be considered. Municipal experience, financial software experience and knowledge, and Microsoft Office Suite knowledge preferred.

Public Works Clerk

Under the general supervision of the Director of Public Works, the Public Works Clerk, enters work order requests, processes requests for block parties and invoices from vendors, distributes mail, maintains records, and assists with special projects as needed.

The Public Works Clerk’s working schedule is typically 19 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 4-5 days a week.

Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency. An Associate’s Degree or two years of post-secondary coursework is preferred. At least two years of previous experience in customer service or administrative support required; experience in a municipal setting strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be considered. Proficiency in Excel and the ability to administer a Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

Salary/Pre-Employment Requirements

The hourly rate range for the positions is $17.20 – $24.86 DOQ. Successful completion of physical exam, background investigation including reference checks, and alcohol and drug screening is required.
