Village of La Grange

The La Grange Public Works Department (320 East Avenue) is seeking energetic applicants for temporary summer employment. Public Works seasonal employees will have opportunities to learn a variety of manual labor projects, and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance, repair and construction of streets, water, and sewer systems and related Public Works and utility facilities and urban forest.

The working hours are 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday between May through September. Candidate must be willing to work occasional overtime, including weekends and holidays, should circumstances warrant.

Qualified individuals must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency. Must be at least 18 years of age when employment starts. Must have a valid Illinois drivers’ license with a good driving record. This position requires the occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force and the ability to work at heights. Duties performed daily both in and outdoors under all weather conditions and include exposure to inclement weather, noise, traffic conditions, and exhaust.

The starting pay is $15.00 per hour. Successful completion of physical exam, background investigation, and alcohol and drug screening is required.
