Mount Prospect, IL – Part-Time Senior Activities Coordinator

The Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois, population 56,852 is located along Metra’s Union Pacific Northwest Line, 23 miles from downtown Chicago and five miles north of O’Hare International Airport.  The Village’s Human Services Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Part-time Senior Activities Coordinator.

The Part-time Senior Activities Coordinator in the Human Services Department is a non-exempt position that will oversee senior recreational and educational activities for residents of Mount Prospect.  This position will assist in identifying gaps and opportunities with regard to senior activities, implement new programs, coordinate with other community stakeholders and provide oversight of senior activities and senior groups using the community room for recreation. The candidate must hold a High School Diploma or educational equivalent with experience working in a senior recreational setting.  A Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred.  Qualified candidates must have excellent customer service, time management and organizational skills.    The position is for up to 29 hours per week.  There is some flexibility in hours, but department hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.   The position may require flexibility to work other hours on occasion.  Prior work experience in a senior services setting is preferred.

Starting salary range is $27.45 per hour DOQ.  Excellent benefits include IMRF pension, holiday and vacation time, and an option to enroll in a 457 retirement plan.
