Village of Mount Prospect

The Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois, population 56,852 is located along Metra’s Union Pacific Northwest Line, 23 miles from downtown Chicago and five miles north of O’Hare International Airport. The Village is seeking qualified individuals for the full-time position of Assistant to the Village Manager in the Village Manager’s Office of the Village Administration Department.

The Assistant to the Village Manager provides professional support to the Village Manager and Assistant Village Manager. The work assignments range from administration of a variety of Village programs, complex research, policy formulation and high-level staff assignments which do not follow a prescribed routine. Qualified candidates must have a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience working in a municipal environment including but not limited to conducting in-depth analysis, manage special projects, prepare reports/memo, support employee committees, collaborate with staff to manage website content and be proficient in maintaining sensitive data in HR/Payroll or ERP systems (Tyler New World preferred).  Strong verbal and writing skills, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and excellent customer service skills are a must.  Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Public Policy or a related field is required; Master’s Degree preferred.  An equivalent combination of relevant experience and training may be considered.
