Village of Round Lake Beach

The Village of Round Lake Beach is seeking a Senior Finance Manager. This position shall serve the residents of the Village by assisting the Village Administrator and Finance Director by performing in a timely and professional manner, a variety of professional accounting duties associated with preparing, maintain, analyzing, verifying, calculating, posting, reconciling, and balancing complex financial transactions, statements, records and reports.

Job Duties:

  • Maintain the accuracy of the Village’s general and fund ledger and assist in preparation of the Village budget, annual audit, a year-end closing activities.
  • Review, adjust and maintain the general ledger, including accounts payable, payroll, and revenue, journal entries, and maintain accounts for several individual Village funds, including the General Fund, General Capital Improvements and Motor Fuel Tax Fund.
  • Substantiate, process, and deposit all monies coming into the Village, including all tax revenues, payments for license, permits, fines, bank transfers, and other obligations due to the Village, balance daily receipts, and prepare information for and make deposits, including credit card receipts.
  • Substantiate and process all invoices for payment, resolve problems with vendors, enter accounts payable information, prepare accounts payable reports/warrants for the Village Board approval, and prepare and mail checks for payment of accounts payable.
  • Review payroll information, including data relative to taxes, Social Security, and other deductions, and prepare paychecks, earning statement, monthly, quarterly, and annual State and Federal payroll reports. Provide necessary information to the Finance Director for filing of the reports.
  • Prepare requisite compensation information for Village staff and ensure information is posted on the Village’s website in accordance with Compensation Disclosure – Public Act 97-0609.
  • Invoice developers and petitioners for reimbursable expenses, and invoice businesses and residents for false security system alarms.
  • Assist Finance Director with the preparation of the Village’s annual tax levy ordinance, Treasurer’s Report and Warrant List.
  • Participate in the development of, and monitoring of expenses in relation to the Village’s annual budget.
    Monitor cash flow, advise the Finance Director and Village Administrator of funds available for investment and reinvestment.
  • Report monthly bank balances. Monitor and keep track of Fund Balance and the percentage of Fund Balance on a monthly basis for the Village Treasurer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or closely related field.
  • A minimum of two years of accounting work experience including knowledge of accounting principles and techniques.
  • A combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions.

Position Range: $80,000 – $95,000 depending on qualifications. IMRF eligible and excellent benefits package.
